Kia ora koutou
I have been weaving harakeke (NZ flax) for 26 years. Predominantly kete whakairo (patterned baskets).
I enjoy experimenting with various techniques and took the opportunity of “lock down level 4” to practice a traditional Native American twined basket – something that has been on my to do list for a number of years. This technique is not that dissimilar to Maori tāniko and my future intent is to utilise natural plant fibres.
I give my thanks and appreciation and aroha to Pat Courtney Gold, master weaver of the Wasco Nation of Confederated Tribes, Warm Springs, Oregon USA.
Ngā mihi koutou.
