40 Vintages: Hawke's Bay Wine Chronicles Richard Brimer
Te Awanga local and celebrated photographer Richard Brimer, presents '40 Vintages: Hawkes Bay Wine Chronicles' this October, at Hastings Community Arts Centre. The exhibition, spanning his 40 year career celebrates the region's wine industry and recent ascension to ‘Great Wine Capital of the World’ status.
Dubbed ‘40 Vintages: Hawkes Bay Wine Chronicles’, and presented as part of the Hawkes Bay Arts Festival Taster Series, the exhibition is complemented by an events series including live music and projected visuals in immersive, multisensory experiences that bring sound, sight and taste together. Tickets to these events are strictly limited and are available for purchase here.
Brimer says, “I began working in the wine industry in 1982 as a way to raise money to buy photography equipment, following the completion of my photography apprenticeship, and I’ve never stopped. I’ve documented 40 vintages, and published three books specifically on wine.
I want this show to be a dramatic homage to this integral part of Hawkes Bay culture, and the many people that have worked so hard to get us here.”
