'A place to sing' - Kate White

An exhibition of paintings and drawings by Kate White: - bringing the invisible into view with the assistance of magpies.

"Being a Hawke’s Bay woman, I do a lot of driving. My eyes are tuned to seeking out the forgotten places: little scrubby volunteer trees and bushes that grow at the edge of rest areas, weeds that have survived extermination. Attendant to these quiet scenes are a selection of animals also invisible, unimportant to humanity’s loud grand race toward wherever it thinks it is going. The easiest to spot from a moving car- is the dear old magpie whose crisp dress is a lovely foil to the muddly texture and hues of foliage. This exhibition showcases works on rescued pallet wood."
