'SOLACE' - Wendy Lee McKee & Luana McKee-Warner
Solace is a heartfelt exhibition showcasing the work of two emerging female artists - a mother and daughter - whose creative voices echo across generations.
Though their styles differ, their art speaks to shared themes of comfort, connection, and emotional refuge. The mother’s portraits are raw and tender, capturing the quiet strength and vulnerability in human expression. Her daughter, meanwhile, turns her gaze to birds - painting them with a softness that suggests freedom, fragility, and the kind of wisdom you only find in nature.
Each piece feels like a quiet conversation between the two artists, and between the viewer and their own memories. There’s a sense of rootedness in the mother’s work, and a longing for flight in the daughter’s. Together, they offer a space to pause, reflect, and feel held - by art, by nature, by the invisible threads that tie us to those we love.
Solace isn’t just about finding peace - it’s about recognising it in the everyday. In a glance, a feather, a familiar face. It’s a gentle reminder that comfort doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. Sometimes, it’s found in the quietest places.
